Sadie Robertson Reflects On The Faith Of Her Late Grandfather, Phil Robertson
“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine. Heir of salvation, purchase of God. Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.”
The great hymn “Blessed Assurance” is all about the reason why so many members of Phil Robertson’s family have been able to write with joy after the passing of their family patriarch.
Phil, who was 79 when he died on May 25, was introduced to households across the nation through his family’s hit A&E show Duck Dynasty.
In the family’s announcement on social media of his death, they wrote that Phil is “now with the Lord,” before quoting from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, which states:
“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.”
Among those who have taken to social media to share on this assurance through Christ is Phil’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson.
Sadie Robertson’s Tribute To Her Grandfather
Sharing a video on May 26 from many decades ago of Phil speaking on his faith, Sadie exclaimed on Instagram, “This is it right here!”
The video shows Phil speaking on what led him to believe in Jesus, specifically concerning the creation account in Genesis.
“I could either put my faith in this evolution thing where there’s no hope, or put my faith in the Almighty and that Jesus of Nazareth was really who He said He was,” Phil said in the video. “So I’m putting my faith in the Biblical record.”
This kind of sentiment is something that Sadie has made a part of her own life, not just as a believer, but as a Christian speaker at conferences like Passion.
Accompanying the video of Phil’s testimony, Sadie acknowledged all of the messages she’s received in light of Phil’s passing, stating, “I wrote in my post yesterday that he touched ‘thousands,’ and I can confidently correct that now to millions.”
On May 25, she had posted on social media a series of photos in remembrance of Phil, noting, “It was his testimony that changed his life, our families life, and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. Fully alive in Christ. The new has come.”
Famously, each episode of the Louisiana-based show Duck Dynasty ends with a prayer, and the show routinely brought in millions of viewers.
Continuing her May 26 post, she wrote, “I can’t stop thinking about how he lived in the middle of nowhere, in a small, humble home with no cell phone or computer, and yet his life touched millions with the hope of Jesus.”
Stating that Phil reminds her “of people in the Bible,” she expounded upon that, saying, “Not many lived with the end goal in mind as much as he did, and not many chose to spend their lives telling everyone they encountered like he did. He really believed it, and I know that he is alive in Christ fully today!”
She concluded her post by saying, “What a life of authenticity. What a legend.”
Duck Dynasty: The Revival
Phil’s death precedes the June 1 premiere on A&E of Duck Dynasty: The Revival.
Prior to the show going into production, Phil was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and it was noted by The Hollywood Reporter in January that Phil was not be listed among the family members included in the new iteration of the show.
On May 26, A&E shared a video tribute to the late Phil, titled “Remembering Phil Robertson.”
