Ella Langley is one of the fastest-rising stars in country music. “You Look Like You Love Me,” her duet with Riley Green, launched her to popularity. Now, she’s on tour with one of the modern country’s biggest stars: Morgan Wallen. Over the weekend, Langley opened a pair of shows at the Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, to close the second weekend of the I’m the Problem Tour.
During Sunday’s (June 29) show, Wallen invited Langley back to the stage during his set to perform his smash hit “What I Want.” The duet with Tate McRae, his first song to feature a female artist, went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Between the popularity of the song and the massive crowd, no one could blame Langley for being a little nervous. So, she made sure she the pressure wouldn’t make her forget the lyrics by writing them on her palm.
Writing the answers on your palm is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and it seems to have worked out for Langley. The clip above shows her backstage preparing to sing with Wallen. Then, it shows her flawless performance of “What I Want” with the crossover superstar.
Ella Langley Reflects on “You Look Like You Love Me” a Year Later
Late last month, Ella Langley took to social media to reflect on the success of “You Look Like You Love Me” and what it did for her career. “The last 365 days have been the craziest time of my life, and it all started with a song me and Aaron Ratiere wrote as a joke,” she wrote in the post. “Thank you to everyone who has loved this song the way we have. Thank you to Riley Green, who came and made the song what it needed to be, thank you to country radio for my first number one. This song changed my life,” she added.
